Complimentary fishing

We have our own private beat on the River Crake very close to the house. The half mile stretch offers access to this river where brown trout live and through which salmon and sea trout annually run.

The beat can accommodate two rods and is suitable for all types of fishing techniques. You need to bring your own tackle and have the relevant licence needed to fish.

Access to this beat is complimentary whilst staying in Lowick House.

Fishing in the local area

Course fishing is free on Windermere or Coniston Water where boats can be hired.  Nearby Bigland (Otter Tarn) an 11 acre fishery has its own stocked tarns and Esthwaite Water (280 acres) is stocked with trout and pike. Both venues charge for fishing.

Sea fishing is free and can be accessed at Greenodd only two miles away on the oncoming tide.
